Charity News June 2018

I can’t believe where the time has gone and it’s June already! It’s been an eventful year so far, so I thought I’d update you on what’s been happening.

One of our main fundraising events is our annual Spring Ball which took place this year on 23^rd March 2018. We had live music courtesy of Greg Davies and his band, the very talented and entertaining Neil Edwards from Elegant Magic wowed all our guests, while the photo booth by Pete from Bresser Photos provided a lot of fun, as you can see from the photos. A number of local businesses kindly sponsored the event and I’d like to personally thank them all. They are listed at the end of this post. With the charity auction and raffle we raised £5,400.

We look forward to seeing everyone again at our next Spring Ball. Please save the date on 22^nd March 2019, as it will be another fantastic evening.

We also sponsor other local community events and fundraising, including Dartford Living Live business networking events, Run>Dartford and the Scumrun completed by 2 of my friends, who are Dartford business owners, to raise money for Action Medical Research.

Since January I have been training hard and as well as taking part in a number of other events, I ran The London Marathon. It was a very hot day and it was one of my biggest challenges this year!

I took part in the 7Oaks Triathlon on 29^th April and the Tonbridge Triathlon on 7^th May. I also completed the Grafman half distance Triathlon on 20th May, where I improved on my personal best time by 46 minutes. These were all useful warm ups for the main event in Austria.

I’ll be in Austria for the Ironman event on 1^st July. This is when all the training and other sports events will pay off. The Ironman event is a total distance of 140.6 miles so my target is £14,060 this year. It’s all in aid of 3 children’s charities The Openwork Foundation, Demelza Hospice Care for Children and The Maypole Project.
